DMOZ left and thanked us all for the fish!

DMOZ.org closed title.

The Directory Mozilla Open Source project ( DMOZ ) is now closed!

Standing tall for more than 19 years now the DMOZ has closed its doors to the internet. Source is WHOIS from January 2nd of 1999; To today where the announcement was made on their site March 17th, 2016. Also, there was two years where DMOZ/ODP was known as "Gnuhoo" which totals its 19-year existence. This news was discovered to us thanks to our broken links detection tool . WordPress users such as ourselves have this plugin installed. This hit us personally hard because of what the Open Directory Project stood for. Also, the simple fact that after many years that this very site was listed in the /Society/People/Furry/Personal Pages category of their site.

Google AMP does not understand what AMP means.

The greatest enemy of AMP is the company that designed it. - S

The vast universe of WordPress bloggers are installing the AMP plugin as another means of making it easier for people to find their content online. But is AMP itself really serving its purpose? Or is it self-serving as a way of extracting content from individual bloggers? Perhaps there's something more nefarious behind this simple protocol. Read on if you want to know more.

In 2017 S will skateboard again.

Skateboard Title.

Picking up the skateboard after almost 20 years is hard!

I should throw in the casual disclaimer that this is going to be a more personal blog about skateboarding. Here it is. Perhaps it's a state of mid-life crisis that has caused me in 2017 that it's a good idea to pick up a skateboard again. As a kid, the ability to get a good quality skateboard was a little out of reach and when I had a job I was working so much that skateboarding was just about the last thing on our minds. Physically we were not the dainty little flower back then and with years of being a work-a-holic and being stationary, it didn't help matters much. However, despite not having the greatest board in the world I was in considerably better health then I am now. Out of just the sake of exercise. Skateboarding was the only "Sport" in the sense that I truly liked it. It didn't have many rules outside of the simple ones.

Purple Bed has finally arrived!

Purple Title.

A long time ago in Purple Bed ordering.

Once upon a time a giant Binturong decided to place an online order for a purple bed. This was sold to the creature by a princess which has a bizarre fetish with slamming eggs into her bed with giant sheets of glass. There was no need to kink-shame as this is the year of progress, love, and cyborg terror-bots. This Binturong bought a new bed because sleeping on a futon was all well and fine in his young college years. However, it is time to move on to better things. Sleep is important for everyone you know!

The furry in us all.

Furry In Us All.

It's time to get personal here about furry.

Oh man, he we go about talking about the furry fandom. This will probably be one of those blog articles that will be driven to the depths of the internet as it really doesn't deal with technical ability or is all that exciting when it comes to graphics. But after watching a Invidious video about the Psychology of Furry Fandom 2015. I felt it was appropriate to throw out my little commentaries and viewpoints about the fandom. Upon such note, it is now disclaimer time:

Disclaimer: The thoughts, views, and opinions of this blogger do not represent the entire fandom and have no intention or will to represent the entire fandom. Any psychological, emotional, or physical damage that occurs when reading this cringe-tastic entry we at s-config.com are not responsible for.

WebP image format wars.

WebP Title

WebP from Google will deliver faster internet to you. But at what cost?

WebP is something I found out by total accident when asking the simple question of:

Why does Google Chrome not support animated .PNG files?

- S

It turns out Google instead of including the format into the library on their browser decided instead to exclude it. Although you can simply download an animated PNG plugin for Chrome here. That's not the point. The point is it should be natively supported which it is not. If Google finally did support animated PNG files then Google now supports APNG which now we can put an axe into animated .GIF files. A Format which is still in use since the late 1980's! Animated GIF files are now old enough to run for president of the United States! However, Google's attitude was as follows:

Why spend any more time on other formats like PNG and JPG when WebP will be cooler!

Note: This issue with Google Chrome as of 7/25/2017 has now been resolved but the entry still stand for archival reasons.

SSL for bloggers

SSL for the extra paranoid blogger!

SSL is an acronym of (Secure Socket Layer) and is commonly used on a website whenever confidential information is passed between the client and the server under the HTTPS protocol. Commonly, SSL is used for E-Commerce because you know, credit card data security is kind of important!

But if it's for commerce why really have it on a WordPress site that sells nothing? What the hell S? What are you doing wasting perfectly good money on a protocol that has no benefit to you what so ever!?!?!

Oh, but it does! And for those with the cash to do it benefits just about any blogger! Read on if you want to know more.

Theme tableflip!

Blog of S-Config Article Title Screen.

We have changed the theme to this site. Prey we do not change it again.

Today we have decided to completely table-flip the WordPress theme on our site. The Angular theme by kriesi was good for its time but if you could tell from the blog posts about all of the CSS and JS I was writing I was finding myself re-writing major parts of the theme just to get it to conform to today's standards of the web. The straw the finally broke my back as it was involved wanting a slightly larger resolution and maybe even changing and/or transparent backgrounds only to have it glitch out or crash the moment we begin writing the CSS.

Anyhow, for those interested keep reading. For those who don't care. Enjoy a faster site with less JavaScript action then before!
